The Efik National Convention 2025, themed “United in Building a Stronger Community Through Outreach Programs,” recently took place at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 24-27, 2025. The event brought together prominent members of the Efik community, including Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, his wife Bishop Dr. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, and Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, who were honored as special guests.

The Cross River State Diaspora Commission was represented by two esteemed commissioners: Pastor Eyobong Ita, Commissioner in charge of Diaspora Engagement, and Mrs. Barbara Eta, Commissioner in charge of Investment Promotion and Tourism. The convention featured a range of activities, including a welcome reception with authentic Efik cuisine and entertainment, an Exclusive Culture ‘Xperience’ honoring community work, and panel discussions on key topics such as financial capital, entrepreneurship, and cultural health.

The event provided a platform for attendees to network with old friends, professionals, and leaders, and to purchase limited-edition convention merchandise. The Efik National Association, Inc. aims to empower the Efik community, preserve their culture, and provide outreach programs.

Governor Otu and Senator Ekpenyong’s presence underscored the importance of the Efik community in Cross River State’s development. The convention showcased the rich Efik culture and provided opportunities for insightful discussions on community building and outreach programs.
